Hey y'all.

Sorry I've been AWOL of late.

Lotsa crazy things been happening.

As some of you already know - I had a mildly frightening spin out on the I-55 a few weeks ago. Well, apparently I know something is lose - but I don't know what. Car hasn't been the same since that time - nothing serious, but you just "know" because it doesn't "feel" right ... know what I'm saying?

I've been job hunting like mad the past few weeks. Retrogression for the Green Card is closing in and it looks like there is little I can do to avoid it. I think I gave some 5 interviews in the past week alone.

The IL State Board of Nursing STILL hasn't issued my license. Now they're "claiming" that my paperwork is done but they are waiting for my payment. I tell them "that's impossible. I sent you the check along WITH my application!". I mean really - what kind of an idiot would send an application but not the payment? How stupid do they think I am?

So now they're claiming that there's some kind of computer glitch and that it might take another TWO WEEKS. This kind of thing really, really, really pisses me off. I don't care if you say "eight weeks" but when you give a time frame, I expect you to ****ing mean it. Don't say 8 weeks, when you mean 10. And when you mean 10 don't finally deliver on 12! I don't like this kind of slack behaviour ONE bit.

But what can I do? I'm dealing with the omnipotent State here. If I raise a ruckus, they'll simply claim that they never recieved my application. Without my license, there's jack**** I can do It's just incredibily frustrating - because there is NO REASON for the delay. I've graduated and passed all exams. They just have to assign a bloody number to my ****ing name, stamp it on a piece of paper and send it over.

THAT's IT!

That is ALL they have to do. Employers want to know the status of my license and week after week I have to tell them that the State hasn't issued it. I wonder if some of them don't wonder if I'm lying...

If this wasn't bad enough, the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools [CGFNS] completely ****ed up my application. I need CGFNS to issue a certificate to me - the certificate is essential to the Green Card filing process... all though many of the steps are redundant and stupid.

For example, asking me to show proof of high school education and English language test requirement. Both of these were requirements before anyone can get a student visa - and since my visa is current, what's the ****ing point in checking it again? It's mindless, bereuacratic numbnut nonsense like this that drives me up a tree!

Anyway, the whole POS costs me $400.00 -- 400 smackers for these bastards to verify FOUR pieces of PAPER! Now hear this:

They are waiting for me to submit proof of passing my nursing school of SNDT University, Mumbai.

"Huh? Didn't you do your undergrad from University at Buffalo?" you say?

Well, so did I. Apparently, when I called them to clarify this issue - they blamed ME saying that I must have done something wrong when I applied online! Yeah, I have nothing better to do than give you BS information on my application packet. It's even more absurd when you consider the fact that SNDT University is open to women only. When I point this delicate fact out, the customer "support" person curtly informs me that she can't "keep going back and forth" with me.

I felt an artery on my temple throb as I fought to control my rising fury. I had very evil and hideous thoughts about what I could, should, would or ought to do to my torrmentors.

Every mistake costs me precious days. Days I simlpy cannot afford because the ****ing visa numbers are closing. And these jokers want to play "ain't my responsibility" game!!!!

I sent some kind of clarrification letter to them - I hope this resolves the issue. Not that it matters in the least bit because they still need proof of licensure ---- and the grand ****ing Board of Nursing for Illinois is a worthless piece of garbage institution that can't add 2 and 2 with a ****ing adding machine!

My aunt is scheduled for her first chemo and radiation tomorrow - a two week delay because her lumpectomy refused to heal properly. She had frequent bleeding episodes - one of them culminating in a massive bleeder that soaked through her mattress and dropped her pressure 30 points... on the eve of my first interview. I didn't sleep a wink that night. I'm worried that they delay might have affected her chemo and radiation outcome.

*deeeeeeep breath* Sorry for the language and rant. It's been a rather trying two weeks.

The good news so far is that I'm still in one piece despite crazy running around and I've just been offered a job at a local hospital. It's a regular surgical floor and looks like a fun place to work at. The Director seems like a swell guy - I just hope I can make the cut.... I'll be working with nurses who have 25-30 years experience apiece! I just hope they help process my employment papers and petition for green card. Once I have that in my hand, I can breathe a whole lot easier.

Felt utterly miserable having to ask Father for $6,000 to cover expenses related to my green card filing process.... but what can I do?


Oh well. That's the update on me life so far. I gotta go wash the dishes and scrub the stove - I don't do it now, it'll never get done, what with aunt going to be outta commission and all....

Welcome to the wonderful world of incompetent civil service employees. The reason they work in the job they do is because they most likely coudn't get a job with a company that had to actually serve the public.

I can offer no solutions to what is happening except to say I think you are doing the right thing by letting off steam to people that care about you as a person.

I think once you get a job you will be able to repay your father in a short period of time. Meanwhile have you looked in other parts of the country for a job.

As for your ride, for your own peace of mind. You might want to spend a few dollars to have the front end checked. You described some severe loading on all the steering parts & front end suspension when you had to recover from being cut off. The vehicle you drive probably has unibody construction which could result in twisting the body structure badly enough to cause you grief. Either way unexpected failure isn't something you want to experience.

Son as far as the car goes get the Front End checked out. If you had a big spinout, you could have suffered some damage to the alignment or steering. Get it checked out now dont wait!

Awwwww John, as Brian said above you're experiencing the world of the incompetent government worker. It sucks and they are protected. There are good ones out there though, but it doesn't look like you are dealing with them.

I'm so sorry all this is happening. We have millions of illegals aliens in this country and they are making it impossible for the legal ones with all the obstacles they place and the hoops they make you jump through - some more than once.

Got my lisence.

I'm working at a local hospital now - surgical floor RN. Awefuly busy - hence my relative lack of presence here.

Short of a miracle - my stay in the US seems likely to end sometime next year. My employers are willing to sponser me - but I think the visas are running out. I need a medical check and my screen certificate and submit the whole she-bang before October the 25th... and given the speed and incompetence I've witnessed, I don't think I'm going to make it...
