Original or Cover -- Which is better?

Ok...a new topic of discussion. Pick a song (or songs) and let's discuss which is better, the original or the cover.

For example:

"I Will Survive" Gloria Gainer (original)

or

"I will Survive" Cake (cover)


And then:

"Sweet Dreams" Eurythmics (original)

or

"Sweet Dreams" Marilyn Manson (cover)



Usually I like originals better, but in both of these cases I think the covers far improved upon the original. (and that's saying a lot in the case of "Sweet Dreams" because I hate Marilyn Manson and I love Annie Lenox)

"Hurt" Nine Inch Nails

I SO prefer the Cash version. There is so much more feeling and empathy in that version.

Vicky~ I think the songs you posted sucked in the first place, so the remakes didn't do anything for me anyways.

John~ I agree on the first song~ always liked Cash. Don't recall the second song.
