| Razak's Roughneck ![]() | Briton to bet it all on one spin of the wheel Man sells all of his possessions, heads to Las Vegas Updated: 6:30 p.m. ET April 08, 2004LOS ANGELES - A British man who has sold all his possessions, including his clothes, will stand in a rented tuxedo on Sunday and bet everything on a single spin of the roulette wheel. If he wins, he doubles his money. If he loses, he will be left with only the television crew documenting his every move. Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old Londoner, said he was worth about 75,000 pounds ($138,000) after he sold everything in March. “I thought I was worth at least 100,000 pounds,” he said in a telephone interview from Las Vegas, where he is putting in a week gambling about $3,000 in a bid to raise his pot. By Wednesday, he was down $1,000. Revell said he had planned to have a friend videotape his bet-it-all spin, but Britain’s Sky One television decided it was worth a short reality series, called “Double or Nothing.” Sky will not pay him, he says, but a crew has followed his preparation and will cover the spin live on Sunday at the Hard Rock casino in Las Vegas. It also plans to follow him for a month afterward, win or lose. Revell, recently a professional gambler, said he decided to take a big plunge while he was still young and raised the stakes as high as possible, including selling his clothes. “I like to do things properly,” he said. He had not decided yet whether to place his money or red or black on Sunday afternoon. “I don’t know man,” he said. “One of them is going to be the right thing to say, and one is going to be the wrong thing.” He added that if he won he would probably take his winnings rather than spin again.

| Junior Officer ![]() | He can't be a very bright gambler. His choice as he sees it is red or black which is as he says a 2 to 1 payoff if he hits. What he is forgetting is the zero & double zero which are green. Hitting either of those is an instant loss for a red or black bet. |

| Banned ![]() | I had a great uncle on my father's side who was a professional gambler. His game was poker (and occasionally blackjack) he made a decent living at it down in East St. Louis (this was back in the day, Danny, before E. St. Louis was the armpit of the world). My father was also an "avid" gambler and spent a lot of time during retirement playing blackjack. He had a system, and, at most, he broke even, often winning. I dunno, it never passed down to me. I don't see the "allure" of gambling. If I'm going to "lose" a couple hundred or so, I'd like to do it in the mall where at least I'll have something to show for it! I'm one of those that losses $20 at the blackjack table and freaks out and leaves. LOL |

Systems are great but the casinos still have the edge, that was a bright comment wasn't it LOL. Playing roulette I think I'm about even in the win lose catagory which actually could be viewed as winning, if entertainment by playing is included. My system which pays 1/2 a straight bet goes like this. Straight bets pay 35 to 1 Split 6-9 12-11 10-7 8-5 18-17 19-16 25-28 29-26 27-30 31-32 Thats 10 chips or $10.00 each spin of the wheel. Why that series of #'s ? Looking straight down at the wheel to the right of the double zero is the 1st half of the series. To the left of the single zero is the other 1/2 of the series. Those numbers are directly opposite each other on the wheel. That means I'm covering 20 of the 38 possible slots for that evil little ball to fall into. Not quite a 50% chance of hitting but certainly as has been my experience better than betting red or black. | |
