| Razak's Roughneck ![]() | I've always told myself that I ought to never post on a forum when I'm annoyed. Guess I'm breaking my own rules. If I had any inkling that my original thread would have caused a wound o hurt, I woun't have posted it. If I had even an idea that my original thread and the subsequent follow up would cause such consternation, I would NOT have dreamed of it. But since that bit of satire was missed - intentionally OR not - I figured I'd apologise to the parties affected and post something along the lines of a "counterbalance". In my youthful mind, I thought it best to follow up the initial post with a "rebuttal". It was all humour in anycase. Fair enough - many of you did not see anything funny in that. I can understand that - ain't the first time I've had veggies or shoes thrown at my face. The only reason I honestly posted those two topics was simply because I could identify with both of them. As an immigrant who has been brought up on British style - the ways of the Americans certainly DO perplex me (feet instead of meters? Farenheit instead of Celcius? Right instead of left side of the road? Up instead of down for turning on a light switch?) ... but yet, who'd had an extensive influence and involvement with the American lifestyle - look left before crossing a road, all exit doors swing outside, switch up for off, stick shift on the right hand-not left, states laws over federal laws. So on and so forth. So to speak - a balance. And yet the thread it locked. We can laugh at everybody else, but not at ourselves. "India celebrates this year 58 years of Independence from the British crown on August 15. John.'s own brothers have shed their blood for his country. It would equally mock his brother's memory to suggest that Queen Elizabeth II had decided that the crown needed to repatriate it for incompetent Indian government management - even if it were being done only "tongue in cheek" manner. I personally miss the humor in mocking the governments or peoples of other nations by such assertions." Perhaps you do, but I can assure you that brother would have joined you in an uprorious laugh. As would I. No - even the Government of Pandit Nehru post-Independence was rife with fault. I'm am in no way shape or form advocating that any of y'all adopt my sense of humour. All I thought was I'd share something which I found equally funny from both aspects - being an ex-colonial introduced to the wonderous land that is America (with her customs and traditions) and yet find some kind of indentification with the British model (since I've grown up with it till my adult life). It pains me no end that I might have been the source of conflict among this wonderful web community that has given me much - yes, even those who have vehemently disagreed with me or my opinions. I have no desire to cause any more of an exodus from this community than I have already witnessed in my all too short years here. But I am extremely disappointed that what might have been three wayward posts have resulted in a wholesome questioning of my integrity. That is what wounds me most. I take little umbrage when our members here refer to some of my friends as camel jockeys or rag****s - guilty or not. Yes it has happened before again and again but I keep my mouth shut - for I recognise the rage that produces such terms. I'm not arguing for or against it. Merely affirming that I recognise what causes people to say such things. I don't balme anybody - I just see it as it is. I don't say that whoever said it is a moron or idiot - just that it exists. My reason for leaving for a "cooling off period" has nothing to do with me. I simply donot wish my posts to be the cause of inflammed passion. I love you all too much to just disappear. I will return to harass you like the idiot that I always have been! Untill then. Take care. Peace.

| Weeeeeeeeeeeee!!! ![]() | Well John-if you feel that you need a 'cooling down' period-then it's well deserved. It's rather unfortunate that you feel that you need to do so. (You guys really flick the switch down to turn the light on?!! ) I'm not making light of your stance-you're part of us-which no one can argue. Please don't take too long of a break!!Let us not turn this into a b*tching session-if you have an issue, please contact me. ![]()

| Racy Ol' Lady ![]() | John, didn't you read my post in your second satire? Grandma still lives and posts here, and the same lot that want you to leave are even more anxious that I leave. Now I won't have your loving support - how is an old lady to survive if the family abandons her? My advice re those particularly nasty history lessons (mostly incorrect anyway) is ignore, ignore, ignore. My request is that you remain, as soon as you can pick up posting again. In the meantime, I will send you my email address by PM. There are a couple things you need to know. You may call it "family history," but it's still important that I hear from you.

| Head Zookeeper ![]() | We all need to step back from time to time and reconsider things, put our priorities in order. I can relate John. This forum, however, suffers if you leave for good. Don't let the exaggerations of a few speak for us all. I thought both those posts quite funny, as did most people.
