Default Between posts

There was a span between May 30 and June 5 that was more fun that the last few days. That time span was filled with a last minute trip for us to spend the money we won during the last time this site was down.

The discovery channel had a feature on Costa Rica. Since we haven't been there and sliding through the trees on a cable and sling set up looked like fun we checked to see if lodging was available. No kids, no commitments, no reason to miss out on something new. The private hiking trails & walkway through the tree tops was a bonus as was the volcano.

But the last two days between posting has been a lot of work. 1st there was this screeching noise coming from the front brakes. The brake pad wear indicator was doing it's job. Not a big deal to replace the brake pads. Rather than have the rotors turned I replaced them. I like the idea of buying the best quality OEM parts doing it myself & saving the cost of having work done where I can't see what is taking place.

As luck would have it while out road testing the brakes, the radiator sprang a leak. I loosened the radiator cap, jammed a balled up bunch of duct tape in the hole and managed to get back home without over heating. Gotta luv duct tape.

As a tool the internet is fantastic. Rather than pay an enormous dealer price for labor and a replacement radiator I bought one through a reputable parts supplier. It carries the same warranty as the one the dealer quoted me a price on. WalMart has the top brand of coolent at a significant price less than the dealer. All in all while it takes away from my "think of something to do time" or come here to post random thoughts. It is fun to get back into what put me in the position of being able to retire early. I do know for 100% sure now that retirment beats work.

Brian, not to suggest you're slow, but I reached that conclusion in about 15 seconds after retiring. Of course, I was not happy in my work at that point, and that may be the difference...
