Default Buffalo nickel making a comeback

A pair of Buffalo nickels are displayed in Washington, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. Watch out for the stampede! Millions of American buffalo are headed to cash registers near you. Sixty-seven years after the government minted its last buffalo nickel, the symbol of the American West is returning to the five-cent piece.

Is the government doing this so more cash will be out of circulation and raise it's value?

For whatever reason, I'll be glad to see the buffalo back on nickels; I have some old ones, and I guess the dates will help. I had a lot of them, and Indianhead pennies, Liberty dimes - Bob spent them! It never occurred to him I had them stashed away for a reason!

i bet the ones you do have stached away are worth some money. I remember seeing a silver penny my dad had at one point. I am curious what something like taht would be worth.

Silvery color, you mean? They came out during the war, I think - that's WWII. I forget what the metal was - copper was needed elsewhere. My stash is gone, though - he spent all but a couple dimes and the nickel. We did have a bag of coins my mother had; sold them to get the money in her estate. Some rare ones in that.

I doubt if they are worth much; but I probably am wrong. It's worth finding out, Chris. Stamps too - there is a lot of money in stamps.

Yeah I can imagine some of those coins are worth money. I can not believe the money in stamps. I know of a few people who collect them and get good money for them.
