I think I have lost my mind

OK I think I have lost my mind..............

I must be crazy-What was I thinking ? A friend of mine just did this at her house and was bragging to me~It's all her fault
OK for those that have no idea what in Gods green earth I am talking about.
I tore down all the wallpaper in my kitchen(it's been there for 20+ years)I couldn't take it anymore-It was filthy torn and looked aweful.I figured a quick sponging of paint on the walls and it would be tons better...
WELL.............................................. ................NOT SO.
The paper came down "oh so easy" then I figured out why-The glue is all over the walls- so here I am 2 days and counting scrubbing wallpaper glue off the darn walls- Oh and the lovely spakeling job the previous owners did-OK so that will have to all be sanded and redone.
OH and here's the best part. The ceiling was wallpapered- That I have yet to remove-I am afraid, very afraid of what is under there.
What was I thinking?

OK just needed to vent & take a break~back to glue removal for me.

Been there didn't do that. Must be the lazy streak in me. I went to Home Depot and bought some paneling to cover the wall; and ceiling tile to redo the ceiling.

Depending on what cabinets you have & the theme you wanted for a kitchen almost anything is available.

As luck would have it we lived in the country at the time. Sears was having a sale on discontinued cabinets which just happened to satisfy my wifes thinking. Of course just like buying a new pair of shoes she had to have a new floor, and different lighting.

I wound up putting in new plumbing to accomodate the new island that took up space from what used to be an oversized dining room. End result was fantastic but then again lazy cost me.

I'm sorry MaryEllen. Just think how nice and fresh and new it will look when you are finished the second time. Now would be a good time to run out in the wild and give that primal scream you long to so very badly

One thing leads to another though when you start projects around the house.

MaryEllen, this is one time when I can say I've BTDT! You might want to consider a REALLY textured paint and let the next person who paints do all the scraping. LOL! Seriously, take the time to do it right and you'll be happy you did. If it still doesn't look right, decorate with something that will draw attention away from the walls and ceiling. (Like an interesting light fixture....)

What a mess. I feel sorry for you. However there is a cure for this problem. Hire some High School kids to do the sanding and kick back and have a Beer. In the past I have found that when I am faced with a lot of no brain labor, this cures the problem and I pass the time in a better frame of mind. Not to mention I improve my skills at stacking Beer cans.
