Default Beyond pissed - need some advice

Ok, here's a little background...

Last Wednesday, I took my husband to the ER because he hadn't been able to eat anything or hold down water for 3 days and was getting really dizzy and sick. (when he comes to me and asks to be taken to the ER, I know it's REALLY bad)

They put an IV in his arm and gave him 2 bags of fluid to rehydrate him. Well, I had a bad feeling about the nurse that did it... just did NOT like her, but I just chalked it up to hormones since I just had a baby not long ago. There are times I don't like anyone. LOL

Well, it's now been a week and my husband's arm now looks like this -

He called me from work yesterday to ask how long it had been since he was in the ER. I told him it'd been a week. The purple spot on his arm is a nothing but a HUGE knot. And, his arm is hurting up into his shoulder now. Again, I know if he willingly went to the doc about his arm, it must REALLY be bothering him.

He went to Flight Med today to get his arm checked out. The doctor was surprised, for one, that the stupid nurse had Kris sit up while putting in his IV (causing him to fall over when he passed out). Also, the knot in his arm is a blood clot. Not only did the stupid nurse poke through his vein (which we already knew), but she DESTROYED that vein. It's dead... gone. The doctor told my husband that since there are so many other veins in the arm, it's nothing to worry about and since the clot is shrinking in size, everything is fine.

I asked my husband if he wanted me to call and complain to the Med Group Commander or at least the head of the ER about this nurse and her MASSIVE incompetence. He said he didn't want me to because they won't do anything about it. Yeah, well, that's not good enough for me. She could have caused some MAJOR damage (ESPECIALLY since she already caused a clot in his arm which is pissing me off to no end) and could endanger someone's life if she does this again. I think Kris just doesn't want to start trouble. He's very quiet, goes to work, does his job, and stays out of everyone's way.

What I want to know is -

Is there ANY way that I can call and make an annoymous complaint about this nurse and her incompetence so that something like this NEVER happens again?!?! Is there any way that I can complain about her WITHOUT draggin my husband into it??

Thanks for any info guys. I'm just SO mad right now.

Send a picture and note to the place she works. I hope you got her name. They should know, in case this kind of thing happens a lot with her. It could be a one-time thing or she was having a bad day. Or she might be in the wrong profession.

To be honest it will come back to your husband. More than likely they are going to ask who is your sponsor for your insurance wihich will be your husband being he is active miitary. I would say anything you try to do about it is going to one way or another come back to your husband. Not neccesarily in a bad way, but it will be brougt back up to him. It most of the time is in the military brought back to the sponsor.

Thanks.

I'm almost positive that her name was on his paperwork/release stuff from the ER. I'll be checking his papers tonight. If nothing else, I might make a call and ask what nurses were working during the time we were there.

I'll get on that this week.

I'm hoping it was just a bad day, but her one bad day could have caused some real damage. I just can't sit by and let it go. I hate that. lol

*sigh* That's what I figured. I know he'll probably get upset if I drag him into it because, like I said, he hates to "make waves". That is one aspect I really despise about being a "dependant". I'm used to stepping up to bat for people I love that can't/won't, but with Kris being in the military, I can't. Ugh!!

yeah i know what you mean. His being in the military it alwys effects him in one way or another. It lways comes back to teh active duty sponsor in one way or another. I would talk to him before taking any action. I do not think this will affect him at all in his daily duties, but they will probably ask about what he feels about teh situation.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

I'd kill to just trade places for him for ONE day to deal with this crap, cuz that is ALL it would take me!!! lol

I think I'll talk to him about it tonight and beg him to let me say something to someone about it at least. lol
