Police Don't Plan To File Charges

SAND LAKE, Mich. -- Michigan authorities don't plan to seek charges in the case of a 4-year-old boy who drove his mother's car to a video store and back.

Sand Lake Police Chief Doug Heugel said the boy is too young to charge and his mother didn't even know he was awake.

The chief said the boy walked out of his family apartment about 1:30 a.m. Friday and drove his mother's Geo Prizm a quarter mile to a video store. Finding it closed, the boy headed home.

A police officer spotted him and followed the car back to the apartments, where the boy hit two parked cars, then backed into the officer's car.

The mother said her son tried to drive before and she let him steer the car from her lap.

ROFLMAO just when you thought it all. SHe should really think about teaching him so much at a young age. I dont understand how the hell he made it tehre and back. This is very interesting.

Dang, give the kid a license!

Miami drivers have nothing on the last three coutries I have been to. This kid would probably even refuse to drive there.

Well I did the same thing at age 4. Started Dad' Black 49 Ford coupe (never got it in gear), and I was standing on the seat, and turning the steering wheel back and forth, which got the car got it rolling down hill (very gradual incline) and it was doing about 5 miles an hour (Dad saw it happen but it was too late). Drove straight into the livestock corral gate, which acted like a spring board. I guess I shut the car off, by then both parents were there. I think both were laughing so hard (it didn't do anything to either the car or the gate on the corral). Mom was glad I was OK, Dad was glad his car was ok, and I had a blast.

I guess I wanted to do it again, but Dad never left the keys in the car anymore!!

I heard about this on the radio this morning. Then there were probably a couple dozen people calling in about their kids taking the car or them taking the car when they were kids. I don't think any of them actually had a good story about a little kid intentionally driving someplace then going home though. Funny funny.
