Perfect Timing for that Break
Posted 06-29-2008 at 16:10 by Anth
When I posted my last, I thought nothing else of the break. The Tuesday after the entry I was at the club competition for the Horden club just to help out on the panel. I'd said I'd show up for the high grade kata so there'd actually be someone to judge. The night went ok but for people showing up 40 minutes late (how hard is it to get somewhere on time when you've been told dozens of times that its a 6:30 start?)
Anyhoo, fast forward to that Saturday. I needed to walk down the town for an anniversary card for the parents so off I plodded. This is a walk that doesn't normally affect me - never knackered from it no matter which routes I take or anything like this. This time however, I got less than halfway there and I started getting some slight chest pain in the area around my heart. It wasn't too bad, not even like DOMS but it was still there. I put it out of my mind and continued my walk. By the time I got home I was absolutely cream crackered. I got in, sat down and needed a good 10 minutes to recover from what's normally a gentle walk. It was actually scary how knackered I was.
Time for a bit of background. Years and years ago my dad was diagnosed with a heart murmur which turned out to be a load of calcium in a heart valve. Then on mams birthday (when I was 11) he passed out, and again early the next year. He had open heart surgery to replace the valve when he was 35 years old.
That is why chest pain for me is scary.
So, off I went to the doctors on Tuesday where the latest foreign doctor proceeded to check me out then give me a clean bill of health. He booked me in for an ECG (Electrocardiogram) just to be sure though. That is due to take place this coming Tuesday. I don't know if I'm looking forward to it or not. I want to know if something is up, but its scary needing a heart scan at 21yo.
Until I get the results, I've been ordered by the mother to not exercise. Easy enough for her to say, but I can feel my muscles screaming due to the inactivity and I'm bored out of my skull. I'm actually bored of plodding around the Internet too.
Bit bad when I get to that point!
