| Civilians | We should all expect Morgan to have naturally sub par diction but, putting technical limitations aside and more importantly,he offers no wit, little humor,no depth of analysis nor any anecdotal "color". He just seems to repeat the same old stock cliches and mere banalities; e.g.,"the second time through the lineup the hitters get to know all of the pitches...";"the pitcher has to make the adjustment when he doesn't have his best pitches..." He either falls back on what he's used for ten years or simply fades from the mike out of complacency. It is a guy like Dave Campbell,a brighter and more articulate ex-pitcher who should be in Morgan's place but it's obvious that ESPN like so many other social institutions has to lower standards to accomodate a black. That's right!A mediocrity like Joe Morgan is still on the air because he's black.Morgan knows this and that's why we're stuck with his increasing incompetence. Chalk up another strikeout for "affirmative action" N.B. Ditto on that sterling home plate umpire in G.4? |

| Civilians | Or, it could be the "fame" thing. Like, famous people get favoritism. He is already there. Ratings are okay. A change would require someone with the courage to make a decision. That decision maker would get blamed if ratings dropped a bit during the transition and would be gone. Sad but true in the corporate world. |

Typically inane response from an ignoramus or one in denial of the reality that race is a dominant factor in the employment of minorities, especially those in public positions. Has he ever heard of affirmative action, diversity programs, job quotas, tokenism et al.? They are all forms of institutionalized discrimination existing for the sole benefit of blacks regardless of merit and qualification. If we ever had a color blind and unsexist dreamworld, guys like Joe Morgan would lose to the competition;in this case, white male or female >> ********* > "George Bakerras" <vista199@yahoo.com> wrote in message > news:9a9fb6f7.0410282259.4cf18b59@posting.google.c om... > > We should all expect Morgan to have naturally sub par diction > > but, putting technical limitations aside and more importantly,he > > offers no wit, little humor,no depth of analysis nor any anecdotal > > "color". > > > > He just seems to repeat the same old stock cliches and mere > banalities; > > e.g.,"the second time through the lineup the hitters get to know all > > of the pitches...";"the pitcher has to make the adjustment when he > > doesn't have his best pitches..." > > He either falls back on what he's used for ten years or simply fades > > from the mike out of complacency. > > > > It is a guy like Dave Campbell,a brighter and more articulate > ex-pitcher > > who should be in Morgan's place but it's obvious that ESPN like so > many > > other social institutions has to lower standards to accomodate a > black. > > That's right!A mediocrity like Joe Morgan is still on the air > because > > he's black.Morgan knows this and that's why we're stuck with his > > increasing incompetence. > > > > Chalk up another strikeout for "affirmative action" > > > > N.B.
