| Civilians | Oh, but NO! Nowhere does it actually say that Bonds used steroids! I'm sure that Those Balco guys were just making sure he was propperly nourished. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...011/index.html |

Didn't stop Turk Wendell from going on about how he somehow "knew" that Bonds is using steroids. Or Andy Van Slyke. Too bad one of those guys doesn't even know Bonds, and the other knew him over a decade ago. Until someone who actually has any way of knowing says Bonds used steroids, or there's any real evidence (guilt-by-association, hearsay, and I-think-he-must-have don't count, sorry), I think it's only fair to withhold judgment. Of course, most fans have no inclination to be fair towards Barry Bonds - they made up their mind about him long ago, and little will change that. So I'm not holding my breath. |

Why is it so difficult to believe? If I am a ballplayer and a company tells me it can provide me with tailor made nutrition specific to my blood type and body type, etc., I'd go for it too. That's what Sheff said in the article. And we all know Bonds is a freak in nutrition. He's got his own nutritionist! |

I believe in innocent until proven guilty as much as the next guy. But some people are above the law. Many of them hapen to be professional athletes. This is just the way it works. Barry Bonds is never going to have to answer hard questions about his drug use. He's never going to have to take any kind of drug test worth giving. The man is protected from up on high by the prince of darkness (Major League Baseball). Nothing's ever going to stick, so he'll be perpetually innocent. Scheffield's anecdote isn't damning, but it's certainly worth mentioning and wondering about. More interesting to me than the strong associations with known drug providers was the overwhelming conclusion that Bonds is complete dick. Interesting, not surprising. That and the fact that he stole Sheff's Chef. Classic! |

Jealousy? I'm not a ballplayer. I'm on my way to getting what I want out of life. Jealousy doesn't become me. If anything, I feel sorry for the guy. He should be able to take any kind of drug that he wants in plain view of everyone and not be ashamed of it. Because of social conventions and his obligations to keeping you, his adoring fans, living in this dreamworld for another seventy home runs or so; the guy has to be candid about his drug use and pretend like it isn't going on. I say let 'em all use drugs. Why the hell not? It's the endless denial that the fans are forced to swallow that bothers me. A.Funk |
