Post '97 Buick Le Sabre transmission cycling

I have a 97 Buick that hunts/cycles up and down when going up any incline. It has also done this when merging into traffic.

If you let off the accelerator and then push it back down it will usually stop.

Does anyone Know or have an idea of the cause or causes of this? Also, what do I need to do to fix it? Buying another car is not an option at this time.

I don't know squat about "new" cars, check this out.
97 Buick Le Sabre transmission - Google Search
You'll even find your post here!
I'll bet one of these sites can answer your question.
Dennis.
