Default Oh Good Grief!

'Monster Garage' Host James to Pay Fine

By Associated Press

UPDATED 1 HOUR 42 MINUTES AGO
LONG BEACH, Calif. - "Monster Garage" reality show host Jesse James has agreed to pay $271,250 for violating California's air quality laws by selling motorcycles that did not meet the state's strict emissions standards, authorities said.
His Long Beach motorcycle building shop, West Coast Choppers, sold more than 50 new or custom-built motorcycles between 1998 and 2005 that were not certified by the Air Resources Board, the agency said in a statement Friday.
Attempts to reach James for comment Friday were unsuccessful. An employee who answered the phone at West Coast Choppers said the company would have no comment.
As part of a settlement, the shop is building motorcycles that comply with emission standards, the board said.
James is married to actress Sandra Bullock. His Discovery Channel series about customized vehicles aired for five seasons.

You would think that the California Commies would have better things to do than to impose sanctions on a custom vehicle builder who made 50 motorcycles that will be dragged out one day a week and driven maybe 500 miles a year
Anybody who has ridden motorcycles A LOT knows that you can't ride these "Choppers" any distance unless you're some kind of masochist.
They are show pieces, meant to be put on a fireplace mantle and if you have the kind of disposable income necessary to custom order one, you probably have a fireplace mantle big enough to put one on.

They do seem to do their best to make it hard for businesses to operate. Those idiots don't seem to realize that the taxes from those businesses and the taxes from the jobs they provide all make it possible for them to finance their pet projects. Worse than biting the hand that feeds them.

I lived in Calif. from 1948 to 1997, I don't miss it a bit
In the "old days" Calif. was the home of the custom car, many of the innovations that we have in the modern automobile were developed by the custom car builders.
All I can say for Jesse is, when the money peters out and the actress gets as tired of your ill tempered ass as your last wife did, I imagine the Hells Angels will take you back.
