Default AC recharge

Is it normal to recharge an air conditioner once in a while, or it should
never be recharged if there is not leak?

I have an extended warranty on my 97 Chevy Lumina which covers all major
parts of ac - compressor, compressor seals, compressor head, condenser,
evaporator, etc. Obviously it does not cover the freon and diagnostics. So
if I take the car to a dealer, he might not find anything wrong and I will
end up paying for freon and labor plus deductible which can be twice as much
if I would go to a small shop. If, however, evaporator or condensor is bad,
that it would make a sense...

My warranty expires in a couple of weeks.. What should I do?

Thanks,

-Stan

AC systems shouldn't require periodic recharge. If the system works
OK, leave it alone. The best diagnostic tool is you - the system
works as it did last year or it doesn't.

No, it doesn't work as before -- air is not cold enough...
