| Civilians | Hi Does anyone know of a late model DOHC 4 cyl engine with as much or more HP than the stock V6 that will bolt up and that that computer can be integrated with? The car is a 1985 with an automatic and a knocking V6. Thanks Rod Ouellette |

I've heard of a possible transmission adapter to mate the Ecotec to the Fiero trans, but I don't think it's available commercially yet. In any case, the Fiero auto is crap, especially for a high-revving DOHC. The V6 Fiero computer was never intended to run a 4 cylinder. |

| Civilians | GM should have originally had the quad 4 instead of the iron duke in the Fiero. GM wanted the Fiero to be a commuter car, for people to dart in and out of town. It was sportscar people who made them go with the V6 in 1985 and the quasi-hatchback body in 1986 and it is sportscar people, not GM, who continue to "evolve" the car today. GM should have done a lot of things, some of which might have helped them over the hump they have to deal with today. Actually, the idea behind the commuter car is still a good one and in light of the price of gasoline today, you might see substantial growth in that automotive subset. Look at the Mini little Brit cars that are delighting college professors all across the country. Naturally GM (Pontiac) will put out an super-economy gasoline-driven car about the time that the rest of the world is driving electric skateboards from Korea. |

And even if it was, the early Quad 4's were notorious for chucking head gaskets left and right.
