I know someone in Canada that's selling one probably cheapish.
Might need a body and some electronics work. But if you're looking
for a small 4X4 with the fuel economy of a large 4x4 that's the unit
to get !

After reading your post I would actually recommend moving your desired
year up to 93-94 Same body style and most of the problems were cured by
then.

The 93-94s had the 4.3 with multiport in them. It has two main faults.
The EGR valve likes to get stuck open when chunks of carbon get in it.
(not hard to buy a gasket that has a screen on it to stop this problem)
and second they have the central fuel injection that like to leak when
they get old. That is about a 300.00 part but once replaced they usually
go another 100K.

Define Cheap? I bought one for my wife 10 years ago for about 6000.00
that was in great shape. Currently they run about 2500 for one in good
shape.

well i just found one even cheaper then that. but when i test drove it
everything seemed fine except the brakes have air in them and there is a
leak in the trani line. but everything underneath looks pretty solid only
some body rust oh yeah i didnt get to see under the hood because the hood
release cable is broken and the emergency brake cable is froze how much do
you think a hood release and emergency cable system would cost? now this
will probably sound stupid but this central fuel injection(better with
carbs)i think that fuel injection means there is allways fuel in the carb
right???? b/c i know (from stupid experience)that by pumping the gas
before starting it you will flood it so im quessing that is were this 300
dollar part comes in?? stupid question? thanks again.
