Default 84' fiero with stalling / voltage / charging problems

hello,

I'm haveing a wierd intermittent problem with my 84'fiero iron duke.
When I am driving and I depress the clutch pedal, my RPM's will drop
to about 400-500 and my voltage meter will drop with it drastically to
about 11 volts and the lights will dim out. After about 5-10 seconds
of lugging, the engine speed will come back to about 1000 RPM's and
both the idle and voltage will level off back to normal. This
happens almost every time I push the clutch in. If I push it in and
feather the accelerator to an idle manually, the volts will stay
consistant. Often times the car slalls and I have to kick it into
gear to get it started again. What could this problem be, and what
are my options of fixing it??? It has a new alternator, the battery
might be bad from the previous alternator that wasn't charging enough
resulting in a few complete discharges. Will taking it to auto-zone
and getting a charging system check help?

Thanks for your help!!!
-Chris

Check the battery since the alt was bad, but it sounds like
the IAC isn't responding as it should.

If the IAC is not working right will it shoot a trouble code?

I'm not sure if that is the problem though because if I leave it alone
it idles fine.

I will try to replace it, I have a spare I can pop in.
