Default Indy 500 Pace Car Impala SS ?

I was just wondering if this years Indianapolis 500 Pace Car will be the
Impala SS.

I saw an 2004 Impala SS yesterday at Chevy and it had an " Indy SS
Package" listed on the window sticker for $1295.00

Included in the package :

17 " Chrome Wheels.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Embroidered ( black thread ) logo's on the
front headrests & floormats.
( The wings through the tire logo ).

Indianapolis Motor Speedway chrome badges on front fenders and rightside
of Instrument Panel.

Gauge Cluster.

Special monochrome grille ( black out )
with gold Chevy bow tie in the center.

Doesn't seem like much of a package for that price. Standard SS comes with
17's and the blackout grill. Like a FWD can ever really be an SS. Gimme
the big old fat Caprice RWD SS. Now that big old booger earned it's SS
badge laying down smoky rubber on pavement.

I'd prefer AWD in some cases. But to each their own.

Does it have a 425HP 409 and rear wheel drive? If it doesn't theres
nothing "Super Sport" about it!

having 425 HP and being rwd is important when you need to push 6000 lbs of
steel around, otherwise the front tires would peel out everytime you hit the
gas from having to pull so much weight

Seriously, 99% of the drivers out there dont need RWD, they can barely keep
their FWD cars on the road. I think having a manual transmission or RWD
should require an extra endorsement on your license like having a
motorcycle, or CDL is, because people don't know how to shift or drive
something that is RWD in the rain.

1960's Impala doesn't weigh 6000lbs! :P Hell, a full blown Caddy Fleetwood
was not quite 5,000!

The little 1964 GTO only weighed about 3400 lbs and had a 335HP engine. A
little dinky 2004 Impala weighs 3400 lbs and ONLY has 200HP! And its WRONG
WHEEL DRIVE on top of that. Slow piece of S$%T!!!!!

There's no replacement for displacement ... and rear wheel drive! :-)
