Default Oil cooler lines, can I make my own?

Hello,
I have a 1994 Chevy C20 van with a 350 motor and a factory oil cooler. I
believe my engine cooler lines are leaking oil and I would like to replace
them. I have been unable to find replacement hose online. But what I did
find was all the supplies to make my own. My question is can I make my own
lines and get away with it or should I go to mister Goodwrench buy his and
pay dearly?
Thanks
Greg

Sure, make your own! It isn't rocket surgery. Purchase the correct
hose for the application and good hose-clamps and go to it!

Make your own using brake line of the same diameter and a pipe bender (funny
looking spring thing that prevents kinks which cut off flow). This is hardly
a huge deal.

I would buy the GM lines. You don't need to find out the hard way that hose
clamps can't contain 80psi of oil pressure. Your penny-wiseness here could
be pound-foolishness when you toast the engine due to loss of oil.

I tend to agree with Jerry. I've never had much luck bending tubing or
flaring it without leaks. Takes a bit of experience, I guess. Try here
for what passes for reasonably pricing theses days on OEM parts...

FWIW
YMMV
