| Civilians | Okay, any suggestions would be greatly appretiated. Now here's the problem: Its time to replace the rear wheel hub assembly on my 1988 Olds Touring Sedan. Got the bolts out on one side, but the damned assembly wouldn't budge. Torched it, nothing. Hosed it with WD-40, nothing. Tried to tap it loose gently with a hammer, nothing. Its siezed on there bigtime. The only reason I got the bolts out on one side was because it had been replaced at some point in the cars lifetime. The other side however in original as far as I can tell, and I can't even get the darned torx bolts to budge on that one, snapped the hell out of a socket trying to loosen it. Well, as I said, I did try to gently tap the bearings out but I am afraid of damaging the ABS sensor which is bolted to the backing plate (also rusted on)! YAH! That's also why afraid of using excessive amounts of heat to take the bolts out. Maybe i'll just have to bite the bullit and purchase some new rear ABS sensors...or just find a wrecker that I can pull them from. Perhaps I'll visit my favorite junk yard and see if that 89 Touring sedan is still kicking around for me to grab parts from. Shane 1988 Olds Touring Sedan |

| Civilians | Aren't the ABS sensors actually a part of the hub assembly ? Non removable I mean. I'm told they are on newer cars and if you have a sensor go bad you have to replace the wheel bearing hub assembly. ========= Harryface ========= 1991 Pontiac Bonneville LE 3800 V6 ( C ), Black/Slate Grey _~_~_~_~277, 620 miles_~_~_ ~_~_ |

| Civilians | Been there. I had to replace one on the front of my '95. Tried all kinds of tricks, and basically, yep, just had to whack the crap out of it until it fell off. Setup might be different, but I didn't have any ABS problems. Tony |
