With either RKE module you need a scan tool!

RKE Module Integrated Into the BCM

Important
Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed. Do not operate or program the
transmitters in the vicinity of other vehicles that are in the keyless entry
program mode. This prevents the programming of the transmitters to the
incorrect vehicle. The order in which the transmitters are programmed is
important. The first transmitter programmed will be transmitter #1 and the
second transmitter programmed will be transmitter #2 and so on. Use care to
program the transmitters correctly.

1.. Install a scan tool.
2.. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
3.. Have all the transmitters available that you want to program.
4.. In order to add or replace a transmitter, use the scan tool Body
Control Module (BCM) Special Functions: Add/Replace key FOB in order to
place the BCM into program mode.
5.. In order to program all of the transmitters, use the scan tool BCM
Special Functions: Clear Memory/Program all Fobs in order to place the BCM
into program mode.
6.. The BCM will confirm entry into the program mode by sounding the chime
twice.

Important
The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are
programmed.

7.. Press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on one
transmitter for approximately 12 seconds. The BCM will confirm the
programming of that transmitter by sounding the chime twice.
8.. If you are programming additional transmitters, repeat the previous
step to program up to four transmitters.
9.. Remove the scan tool.
10.. Exit the vehicle. Attempt to lock/unlock the doors to verify the
programming of all transmitters.
11.. Operate all the transmitter functions on all of the programmed
transmitters to verify correct system operation.
RKE External Module

Important
All transmitters must be programmed each time any one transmitter is
programmed.

The scan tool must stay connected until all of the transmitters are
programmed.

1.. Install a scan tool.
2.. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
3.. Select BODY.
4.. Select REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATION.
5.. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS.
6.. Select PROGRAM KEY FOBS.
7.. Select the number of transmitters to be programmed.
8.. Have all the transmitters available that you want to program.
9.. The transmitters can be identified by a 1 or 2 on the back side of the
transmitter.
10.. Press and hold the LOCK and the UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the
#1 transmitter for approximately 15 seconds. The power locks should cycle to
confirm programming of the fob is complete.
11.. If you are programming additional transmitters, repeat the previous
step to program up to four transmitters.
12.. Remove the scan tool.
13.. Exit the vehicle. Attempt to lock/unlock the doors to verify the
programming of all transmitters.
