Default Sunroof Leaks

I just purchased a 1988 Fiero GT in near mint condition. The previous owner
stored the car in a garage and drove only on sunny days. Unfortunately, I
drive the car a short distance to work most days, and the car does sit
outside when the weather decides to rain.

My sunroof is leaking, and as a result the headliner gets wet particularly
at the front corners. The rear of the glass panel at the latch seems arch
upward even when latched closed. I can press down on the glass at the
latch, and it does tighten up.

Is there a way to adjust the latch? Is this a common problem? Will a new
weatherstrip seal cure the problem. I have a similar, but aftermarket
sunroof on my '96 Sunfire and I've nevert had a leak!

Thanks for any help

Before you part with any cash, try this: Clean the gasket and get some
silicon spray or rubber lube and rub it in where it meets the glass. I
found that dirt gets in there, creates little air spaces that conduct
rainwater into the car when it rains. This did it for me. One guy said
that silicon dries out the rubber -- I dunno. Seems fine to me.

I know that one of my cars has spacers in the front connections that
tighten it down. You might see if the local dealer has any. I don't
know where they came from -- there when I bought the car.

Every part, for every brand and kind of sunroof under the sun, and they made
the sunroof that GM used. They can supply any part needed.
