NASCARS bad boy Tony "Smoke" Stewart had purchased his 3 race winning 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo from Joe Gibbs. Instead of keeping it in a garage he decided to auction it off for charity, specifically The Darrell Gywnn Foundation at the famous Barret-Jackson auction in Scottsdale AZ.
Final auction price was a cool $300K and along with the car the winning bidder got a $25K diamond ring that Tony wore at the auction, a race suit and helmet that Tony wore during the 2007 season.
This was an all around awesome auction. As Tony lit up the tires and lived up to the nickname "Smoke" as he staged the car just outside the auction tent.
The engine had been de-tuned and a different intake and carb were installed to make it more street friendly. However since the car was sold with only a bill of sale, it's not elligible to be registered as street legal in any state in it's current configuration.
This took place on Fridays auction (the auction lasts all week) and I had recorded it due to these segments being 8 hours long each
