| Civilians | With Tony winning 2 races in a row, I will bet he will be hard to beat until someone else finds out what Joe Gibbs Racing found. Remember when Harry Gant won 4 races in a row one year ? They put camber in the right rear wheel which gave it a better footprint in the corners. Just that little thing made him unbeatable until someone found out what the Skoal team was doing. -- JerryD(upstateNY) |

It was quite a sight when Harry Gant won four in a row towards the end of his career. Tony Stewart is halfway there now! I do not care one way or the other about chewing tobbacy but the Skoal Bandit was one of the best looking cars ever in Winston Cup. Of course that was back in the era when the cars actually resembled their street counterparts in profile. |

Two wins in a row is nothing special anymore in Nextel Cup. JG won the exact same two races in a row last year. He won Martinsville and Talladega (two in a row) this year. Biffle and Johnson have also won bback to back races this year. This doesn't mean they will be hard to beat either. Top 5's and 10's in a row will be the real key to the Cup. |

It's kind of hard to suggest that Gibbs found something when both wins were on different track types. Road courses share nothing in common with any other track type and there is nothing one could "find" that works on a road course and will at the same time threaten ovals. Likewise, plate tracks are a breed unto themselves. > Remember when Harry Gant won 4 races in a row one year ? > They put camber in the right rear wheel which gave it a better footprint in > the corners. > Just that little thing made him unbeatable until someone found out what the > Skoal team was doing. > On the same kinds of tracks though. Rousch is the one I think everyone should be looking at for having found something. -- -Mike- mmarlow@alltel.net |

I doubt that it was anything like the rear camber that set the Skoal car apart from all the rest a few years back. Talladega and Sears Point couldn't be more different in handling or engine requirements. Remember, Tony has done very well on the road courses of late, and has been in the hunt at the restrictor plate races, too. Carey in Manvel |

BTW, Jeff Gordon was the last to win 4 inarow in '98 at: Poco, Indy, WGlen, & Mich. 3 of those are 2mile or more & low-banked which might indicate something was 'found' by the #24. Since '91 it has been done 35 times by 14 dif drivers. TS is the 1st one to do it in '05. In '04 JG did it twice, Kenseth once, & JJ won 3 inarow. '03 only once, by JG. '02 thru '00 each 3 times.
