What does Darlington lack in "atmosphere"?

It has a hell of lot more heritage than any other track on the NASCAR
circuit.

those sentiments are meaning less and less each year. if you still want the
track on the circuit if a couple or 3 years, something should be doen w/ it
to get it's attendance back up. face it, finishes like Craven/Busch are few
and far between and that's waht they are using to hype "the Ole Girl" now
and whne fans don't get what's advertised they get unruly and unhappy.
attendance isn't going to be much better this winter for the night race, i
don't know what the offical count was yesterday, but it's a shame they lost
the Labor Day race, attendance and revenues will not be climbing anytime
soon.

The demise of Rockingham should add to the attendance at Darlington.
It was somewhat absurd to have three tracks within an 80 mile radius.

Reducing from four local tracks to three isn't quite the same as
from three to two.

what about Charlotte, Richmond, Martinsville, Atlanta and Bristol, they're
neighbors too, should we dump them also or cut back their race schedule?

eliminating one track from the "local" arena doens't help, it's the real
fans that want the tickets not the locals, and if the "track" doens't
provide the amenities current racing fans are looking for they won't go.
there are your diehard fans and there are your fans that don't like to rough
it and need a hotel and shiney rest rooms at the track and big huge highways
to help them get to and frm the track fast enough to get home 'cause they
have to be at work monday morning.

Me and the mister were discussing Sunday how we need to get down there
and catch a race before it's all history. My Dad went to a few of the
spring races in the late 80s or early 90s and just loved it.
