| Civilians | For those of you quick to blame Jr for Stewart's demise you're sadly mistaken. Don't know if the TV guys picked up on this but it was clear to those of us in the stands that this is what happened. The simple fact is the sun went behind the clouds and the track cooled down just enough to tighten up Stewart's car. IIRC, he had already dropped off to something like 6th when Jr bumped him and he had been there for a while. It's interesting how when the sun was out Stewart was dominant and Jr sucked but when the sun was in Stewart sucked and Jr was dominant. I'll be the NASCAR Jr conspiracy theorists can come up with something to explain this phenomena. -- Rob Q: "What did the redneck say right before he died?" A: "Hey ya'all watch this!!" |

But now they're such an integral part of the racing, that their mistakes are becoming more and more amplified it seems. |

Jesus. > > LOL! While I balk at the tone of your posts most days, this one is pretty funny and spot on IMO. Junior apparently hired a friend and ex-racer (name escapes me at the moment) to replace Ty, and even said during Speedweeks that the guy had spotted for him before, prior to this season, a couple of times. It could have just been a place on the track where the spotters didn't have a good enough view to actually tell if they were that close (depth perception at a distance, through binocs especially, can be tough at times). It happens. I'm just glad that they managed to keep both cars from getting wadded up. |

I don't do it, but I feel like posting here (and other, BBS type forums) "I told ya so" posts anytime Junior manages to eek out a win on a non-plate track. Us NASCAR fans apparently can hold a pretty good grudge...personally, I'm with Grandma P, I'd like to see the 1 up and running so they can spread out their tests over more than just 14 tracks/dates between the 8 and 15. If we could get JA back full time, his team could contribute 7 more Cup-track tests to the camp and NASCAR wouldn't have to come down on them like they did Evernham for having a 3rd *test* car last season or season before. IIRC, NASCAR *made* them enter that car in several events (BY400 was one IIRC) to justify their testing campaign with it. Cost control is the sharpest of the double edged swords in the sport IMO. |
