Yep,
No 500 mile race is much fun to watch if 2/3rds of the field gets lapped before halfway point. :-(

Ain't that the way it used to be? Heck, I've read where
there used to be only two or three cars running the lead
lap -- and the leader was about to put a lap over 2nd place!

that's true, but people tend to focus on the negative, especially when they
are afforded the luxury of anonymity hehe. i thought the racing was fine,
but the coverage, as usual, left something to be desired.

That was back when Nascar wasn't getting as much TV and media coverage as they do now.
Nowadays those hundreds of thousands of ticket buying fans will quickly tire of seeing only 5 or so
cars having a realistic chance of winning a race.

So you'd prefer seeing Ned Jarrett win a race by like 14 laps? Impressive as
that might be it is also boring as hell to watch! Although it would be nice if
we dumped the field fillers and cut fields to 38-40 if necessary because I hate
seeing cars getting lapped inside of 10-12 laps.
