Soldier’s wife offers 12 months of distractions

GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — A Germany-based Army spouse plans to show deployed U.S. soldiers the sexy side of military gear in a 2009 lingerie calendar.
Alessandra Bosco, who’s married to Sgt. 1st Class Edward McCoy of the Katterbach-based 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, said the calendar includes 12 photographs of her wearing a mixture of lingerie and military items.
The young Italian bikini model said she got the idea for the calendar from soldiers who e-mailed her after checking out her Web site — Alessandra Bosco — which features a gallery of sexy photographs.
"I received a lot of messages from military personnel who wanted to see me in their gear. I thought about it and after some time I decided it was a good idea to do a calendar using some items they use in their jobs," she said.
The calendar is designed to appeal to deployed soldiers, added Bosco, who previously appeared in a 2002 Australian bikini calendar. But the military-themed calendar is the first time she’s been featured for the whole 12 months, she said.
"It is black-and-white images. It is glamour-lingerie pieces mixed with military things. It could be vests or things soldiers would use in the field put together with some feminine items to make it a little more appealing," she said.
Famed Italian fashion photographer Alberto Magliozzi, whose 2002 Madonne calendar sold 800,000 copies in Europe, collaborated with Bosco on the calendar.
"He has worked for GQ, Vogue, Marie Claire, Playboy and other publications and has taken pictures of numerous international and Italian actors …," Bosco said.
The pair shot the calendar in the German countryside around Ansbach incorporating a German castle and a military training area used by 12th CAB troops, she said.
The calendar will go on sale in July or August. Orders can be placed on Bosco’s Web site.
"I hope that a calendar will be something the military public, mostly male soldiers rather than families, can appreciate. If they have good taste they will definitely enjoy the calendar," Bosco said.
