Current Abrams usage

I was curious if anybody knew how much/often the Abrams is currently being used in OIF/OEF? Are they out doing missions or are they just parked on the FOB with the crew pulling details?

Well, I just got back from my 3rd tour over there. I was in the Al Anbar Province all 3 tours. We tanked every day, and I know that our sister Bn. (2nd Tanks, Fallujah) did the same. The Marine Corps has so few tanks compared to the Army, so us greasy tanker types dont pull duty on Hummers. As for the Army, the only tank unit in my AO besides us were just on Hummers. A good friend of mine went from the Corps to the Army 2 years ago, as a tanker, and has yet to be on a tank. So, I think if you are looking to come back in, you should check into the rotation schedules and see who is going on tanks and who isnt. Your local recruiter should be able to make contacts and find out that info for you. Hope this helps and good luck!!

That is kind of how I thought things were for being a tanker in the Army. I am once again thinking of going back in, and that was one of the questions lingering in my brain. Thanks a lot.
