| The Librarian ![]() | Not 9th Infantry man, but my regiment wears the Manchu dragon, see avatar, because it was formed from a cadre of 9th Infantry Officers and NCOs in 1917. So, kinda, linked. Bill

| NCO ![]() | Well, Headhunter I see we have a few mor things in common then being fellow Manchus. Though I'm retired my Class A while it hangs in my closest, it still has all my awards, etc. Above the left pocket still worn is my Regimental Affilliation DUI which is the 9 Infantry Regiment. Furthermore, on my belt is my Manchu Belt buckle I earned for doing the Manchu 100. Also, we're somewhat tied together for being a Ninja. While you were a Artic Ninja (Manchu). 3/17 Inf Bn (86-90) went by the same nickname Ninja. In fact, in Tom Clancey's book Clear and Present Danger mentions my Bn Cdr. Ninja 6. FYI, the SSG sniper in the book is based on a real SSG from B 3/17 Inf

Incase you didn't know 1/17 came up here in late 93/early 94, replacing 5/9. I tried joining them because I know a 1SG over there but the BDE SGM found out I was a Manchu and moved me to 4/9 which later became 2/1.

I too have the "standard issue" Manchu buckle, but somewhere hidden I've got a large Korean Manchu buckle. Made a few friends in 1/9 when I spent 90 days pulling duty on the DMZ. Question, ever received a manchu coin? BTW, I'm going to start a thread for coin challenging/ etc.

One from 5/9, one from 4/9. Saw your post about the coins. Going to add my small collection at a later date.
