Question M35A2 parking brake!

Anyone in the Motorpool?

Kruser79 orone one with experience with the M35A2!

I am going to need to replace the parking brake shoes on my Deuce! I remember hearing that there is an adjustment that is critical to the proper outcome of the job!

Does anyone know how the replacement is done? Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Oh boy, it's only been about '94 since we had the last one of them in the Motor Pool. Lemme think...There IS an air gap adjustment to the new shoes. This is the major adjustment. Then the minor is made up in the handle. I don't remember the gap size (mebbe I need to find out if my old LOGSA password still works)....

Hold on just a sec....

I already have the new brake shoes, but it looks like I am going to need some small clips and springs, that they say to replace when doing the job! I will have to track them down before I start.

I do appreciate your knowledge and willingness to help a weekend mechanic!

Those pieces tend to deteriorate over time. Imagine being covered in caustic brake dust ALL the time, never being washed off (at least your front wheels on the family truckster have the benefit of being washed off on occasion), and the rust too. So yeah, it's a good idea to replace them with every shoe replacement.
Don' worry 'bout it (read with poor Italian accent added here). I tol' ya, I'm a blabbermouth when it comes to talking about my maintenance, lol. And being able to help you guys that are keeping the old girls runnin' just makes it all the better.....

Hey Longhunter, I already told Mike in that CUCV thread of his. I'll leave these attachments on the threads for a little while. But then I'll take them down and upload them to a spot somewhere on TP for future reference.

Cool?

Kruser79!

That will be ok, cuz I already downloaded it and printed it out!

If there is a place on the site where you place important info, let me know where you moved it to!

Thanks for the help!
