SLC to be cancelled

Got the word today that the course will be eliminated, not sure if that is permanent or not.

Here is the Official Word-

ALL:

The intent of this e-mail is to make sure that all are aware that the Armor School will be terminating 8 courses effective FY 05. For some this may be a reminder, for others it may be new information, but everyone across the training base and in support organizations needs to be aware of this decision as we work toward the future.

The courses to be terminated are as follows:

16th Cav: 1) Scout Leader Course

2) CAV Leader Course

3) M3A3 Scout Certification

4) UCOFT Senior Instructor/Operator

5) Mounted Leader Digital Training

6) M1A2 SEP Tank Commander Certification Course

7) M1A2 SEP Master Gunner Transition

1st ATB: 8) M3A3 CFV (B9)



Elimination of these courses was driven by DA decisions during Total Army Analysis (TAA) 09, which resulted in substantial military reductions across TRADOC. The impact to the Armor School was -123 military in FY 05, with more to follow in FY’s 06 & 07. In order to support core missions it was necessary for the Armor School to align the remaining manpower authorizations to higher priority missions and terminate those courses listed above.

The course terminations are effective Oct 04; however, keep in mind that the personnel may start to attrit this spring, as the AG community moves to the FY 05 military requisition base around April 2004.

6) M1A2 SEP Tank Commander Certification Course

Is that just TC3 for the A2 SEP? I have heard nothing but good things from everyone who has gone to TC3.

Good referesher course on "conduct of fire" and TCGST for those who are transitioning to 19K or been out for a few years.

What is the Mounted Leader Digital Training course? Is it FBCB2 oe MCS-L training within AOB or AC3? Or what? Thanks, saberblue

I think so, kind of like TC3 but for FBCB2. I will ask next time I am over there.

As an update to all of this SLC is still running, thank god. Of all courses for leaders on Knox this one is the BEST.
