They didn't "capture" it per say, judging from the relativly good condition of the vehicle structure wise it was left behind due to maintenance issues that couldn't be fit with in mission parameters. Also if you will notice the rear hatches on the engine compartment are open, my guess would be that it was "canabalized" prior to abandonment. The thing that has me scraching my head is why it wasn't destroyed. My best guess is that we will just take it back after everything is said and done. There are no antenas and it looks like the GPS(Gunners Primary Sight), and anything else easily removable was stripped, so all those boneheads was a usless shell.

It also was towed into its current position, we dont created those types of crappy berms for tank fighting posns ;-))

Irish is right I am sure, probably was attached to a M88 that was ambushed and they left it. Most likely on its way back to the boneyard anyway.

Great dig platform389 though!!

LMAO!

Jason,

That's something that hadn't occured to me considering the position of the turret, or the fact that it is certainly no "hull down" position I have ever seen! Great call! I guess the "spin doctors" over there decided to spend an awfull lot of time to "dress up" an abandoned UMCP for propaganda purposes.

For those scratching their heads over Jason's and my posts concerning "Towing," when an M-88 tows any turreted vehicle besides an M-109A6 the turret is traversed over the rear deck.

-Jason

P.s. Did you hear about that M1 that went over a bridge after the driver was shot? What the frack was he doing unbuttoned anyway???

I wish I could see a bumper number, could you imagine if it was a PL? the poor kid would just die. LOL

On to your second statment:

It's time to dig out the old stuff on how we delt with the 'Cong because these SOB's are really ticking me off!! I can understand the whole "win the hearts and minds" scenario but it's time to shoot first ask later.

I saw some great footage today where a FOX reporter, Round I vet USMC and drilling Reservist got wounded by a motar round. Also showed a guy getting a "Golden BB" from a ricochet to the calf. Great Coverage!

I remember during Round I sitting at home watching CNN waiting for my recruiter to call and tell me to get ready to go since I had the credits to graduate. I hate the coverage for one reason, because I have about 10 friends in the 101'st and every time they announce casualties I start worrying.

Hey i seen this tank on tv the other day i was thinking the same thing it was abandoned. I would have to see inside the turret to know for sure but if you look at the turret i think they were having some kinda of hydrolic problems. And also i had heard some tanks got taken out the other day does any body have any pics of this or what happened to them the news never knows what there talking about on this subject.
