This happens when bean-counters are given too much power/leeway. I doubt the flunky looked beyond the "early separation" entry on the discharge. If a flunky even looked at it. Most of this stuff is done by computer, and all the DOD & DA computers & programs come from the lowest bidder. You get what you pay for. The Army's reaction to this will tell what they intended.
