I will not speak to the acts of bloggers since many of them both left and right have no real concept of truth and are rarely held accountable for what they say.

However, the SCHIP in its current form needs to die. It has always been renewed overwhelmingly because it was not in the expansive form it is in now. Democrats are only trying to expand it to find a wedge issue other than the war. The issue of the war has been a loser for them and with their polls lower than any of the previous republican congresses they need to try a different tact.

If you make $80K per year then my tax dollars do not need to pay for your kids healthcare, you make more than I do and can handle it yourself.

if Democrats really cared about the issue they would have passed it seperately and then tried to pass the more controversial expansion to it as a second bill, thus ensuring current recepients dont lose out.
