Definitely agree here. If they had spoken out, there is a strong possibility that the crime would not have been committed.

Thanks for making that distinction. Anyone can say they are mentally ill. Some people are just weird and evil (Manson and his followers come to mind) but they are not mentally ill and should be held fully accountable.
