I'd say Engle is very typical of those who believe the world owes them a living simply because they exist. When these people open their mouths, it usually seems to be as a protest of something - and usually it's something to do with how terrible the rest of the world is treating them. It never seems to occur to them that they are their own worst enemy.

Actually, Engle doesn't believe that the world owes her a favor. She is not poor or uneducated, and makes her own way through life.

Ms. Engle has devoted her career to public policy and community development work. Prior to joining Emory, she served as Division Chief of Government Services at the Atlanta Regional Commission. As associate director of Research Atlanta, she directed a broad range of policy research and developed a series of televised forums on local policy issues. Her research on public education reform was honored in 2000 by the Governmental Research Association. Research interests include civic engagement and community development.

A Leadership Atlanta class of 2001 alumna, she is a member of the organization’s board of trustees and Chair-elect of Program. She also is a 2001 Outstanding Atlanta awardee and a graduate of the Coca Cola Diversity Leadership Academy of Atlanta. Sam is Vice President-Program of the League of Women Voters of Atlanta-Fulton County and serves on other boards. She holds degrees in urban studies/nonprofit administration (MS) from Georgia State University, health sciences (MHS) from the University of Florida, and economics and political science (BA) from Emory.

She is the type of person that supports the notion that the poor can't help it. If she were to change her position, she would have to change careers, and every committee she is/was on would be either non-existant or reformed.

She is one of the many making money off of keeping the poor...poor, helpless, and irresponsible.
