Am trying to replace the rear transaxle mount on my '88 Formula v6
using an engine lift tool connected to the lift point nearest the
tranny.

Get the engine lifted about 1 inch with just 1/2 to go to clear the
mount bolts. Then suddenly no more lifting, as though the engine had
made contact with the frame somewhere I cannot find. Cannot find any
engine-to-car contact that would explain it.

Have also tried a bottle jack under the oil pan, but do not want to
push it there.

Have just successfully replaced the forward tranny mount -- not totally
helpless but would greatly appreciate some advice :-)

Any ideas what could be preventing that last bit of engine lift?
