I would love to visit that country someday. I'd especially like to visit Jerusalem.
I do believe it is a divided city (Israeli side/Palestinian side) but am not sure what exactly the deal is there. |
It's a city on the Sea of Galilee, Dan. I forgot it's not well known. It's opposite the Golan Heights, a Roman "pleasure town" where the stone inscribed with Pontius Pilot's name was found some years ago. I've seen that stone. We would go from there to Capernaum on the Galilee, then walk through Capernaum and on. Of course, Capernaum is now just ruins that an old priest has worked on to reconstruct as an archaeological site. The base of the synagogue where Jesus read the Scripture from Isaiah is still there and St. Peter's house.
Jerusalem - I love it. The Christian, Armenian and Muslim Quarters are in the Arab side; the other is the Jewish Quarter. I don't know what will happen there.
